Vale Reg Trevean

HRSA is deeply saddened at the news of the passing earlier this week of Reg Trevean.

Reg trained in Victoria with great success in the 1980’s and 90’s, before making the move to South Australia in 1998.

During his trainer career Reg trained around 400 winners, highlighted by Group 1 success in the 1993 Australasian Trotters Championship with Helium and the 1995 Gold Nugget with Slick Vance.

Other horses trained by Reg which gave him many trips to the winners circle included: The Phoenician, Lord Jeffrey, Heir To Greystoke, Old Kinderhook, Ok Prospect, Champagne Prince, Unique Style,  Nutfield and Young Vance.

In South Australia Reg secured victory in numerous feature events, most notably a South Australian Trotters Cup and Strathalbyn Trotters Cup, along with a Port Pirie Pacing Cup and Kapunda Pacing Cup.

Reg had a deep passion for the sport, evident by his long-standing involvement with the South Australian Square Trotters Association, where he served as President until only  recently. He was also bestowed with Life Membership of that Association due to his commitment and hard work over many years.

Reg is survived by his wife Sharon, four daughters and six grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be conducted in the Globe Derby Park Committee Room on Friday 30th May at 1:00pm.

HRSA extends its deepest condolences to Reg’s family and friends.
