SA TROTS -Three generations of Finnis combine for wins at Mount Gambier

THREE generations of the Finnis family made their way to the winners’ circle in Mount Gambier last night.

Elder statesman Barry Finnis, his son Jayson and his son, Juddy, shared the spoils with a victory.

Barry and Jayson combined to register a drought-breaking triumph with True Blue Rose, which registered her first success since scoring in Hamilton on February 16, 2023.

Trained by Barry and driven by Jayson, True Blue Rose led throughout from barrier four to complete a half-head win from Smart Play.

In a ‘blanket’ finish, Hez All Rock was a half-neck away third in 2:01.2 over 1720 metres.

Juddy then stole the spotlight with a winning debut behind his Christmas present, Smokey.

The duo also finished second later on the card as well as receiving ‘Best Presented’ honours.

“Juddy has been down the stables everyday working and taking care of her since he got her for Christmas,” Mum, Alyce Finnis said.

“I’m super proud they won their first race start together…couldn’t be happier for Juddy.

“Chloe Phillips also had her new pony, Aladdin, racing and they got their first win together which was terrific to see.”
