Goals for Lethal Louie

VICTORY at Globe Derby yesterday has promising freshman Lethal Louie on target for his first feature assault.
Having his fourth start, Lethal Louie took his record to two wins and two seconds following a successful debut.
Impressed with the son of Sweet Lou, caretaker trainer Bronte Giorgio stated Lethal Louie’s next outing will be in the Sapling Stakes on October 8.
Driven by Michael Smith, Lethal Louie began quickly to lead from barrier four as No Ultimatums worked in the ‘death seat’.
Fending off the initial challenge leaving the back straight, Lethal Louie then proved too slick for Waitpinga Heritage along the inside to score by a metre-and-a-half.
Lieutenant Jack was two-and-a-half metres away third in 2:01.2 over 1800 metres.
“It was a pretty good run from him and will serve him well for the Sapling Stakes in a couple of weeks,” Giorgio said.
“Alyce Finnis has sent him up here for a couple of runs then he will go back to her.”
Upon his return to Finnis’ Mount Gambier base Lethal Louie will be primed for the “main target” – the Southern Cross.
Heats of the futurity are scheduled for November, with the Final to be run at Globe Derby on December 3.
“Alyce wanted to get a couple of runs into him up here, but it’s a long trip to make on a regular basis, so she sent him to me,” Giorgio said.
“He will go back to her after the Sapling and she’ll get him ready for the Southern Cross.”
