SA TROTS Plans for Dancing Finn are simple
PLANS with in-form mare Dancing Finn are quite simple!
Racing in sensational fashion, Dancing Finn outstayed her rivals to capture Sundays Strathalbyn Cup to take her record to six wins from her last seven starts.
Thrilled to see the daughter of A Rocknroll Dance add the provincial feature to her tally, trainer Lance Holberton stated he has “a taste for country cups”, and will follow the cup circuit closely with Dancing Finn during the next few months.
Enjoying a quiet time today, Dancing Finn will be kept “working along steadily” in preparation for the Mount Gambier Cup in a fortnight.
“I couldn’t be happier with her run yesterday,” Holberton said. “Not many win from the second row there…it was a top run from her.
“She’ll have a couple of days off now, then I will keep her working along steadily before we go to Mount Gambier.
“I’ve got a taste for country cups now, so those races will be the focus with her for a while.”
Driven by Michael Smith, Dancing Finn was given time to settle into her stride before being sent forward to test the leader, Premonition, from the ‘death seat’.
Forging her way to the front at the top of the home straight, Dancing Finn staved off a late charge from Brantley to score by a neck.
Maharajah was six metres away third in 2:00.1 over 2110 metres.
