Industry Announcement – Integrity and Stewarding Updates at HRSA

Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) wishes to advise the industry of several important changes within its Integrity and Stewarding Department. These changes reflect HRSA’s commitment to strengthening integrity, improving communication with participants, and ensuring the sport continues to meet the highest standards at both state and national levels.

Resignation of Chairman of Stewards

HRSA advises that the current Chairman of Stewards, Trevor Styles, has formally resigned and will be relocating to Tasmania to take up a new position within the harness racing industry. We sincerely thank him for his contribution to the South Australian harness racing community and wish him continued success in his new role.

Key Appointments

Derek Kordick – General Manager, Integrity and Corporate Services

HRSA is pleased to announce the appointment of Derek Kordick as General Manager, Integrity and Corporate Services. Derek brings a strong legal and regulatory background to the role. He previously served as General Manager of Integrity at Greyhound Racing South Australia (GRSA), where he oversaw the development and enforcement of integrity policies and procedures. Derek is also a qualified barrister, having practised at Wright Chambers, with a focus on administrative and regulatory law. His combination of legal expertise and hands-on experience in the racing industry will be invaluable in overseeing integrity, licensing, and governance functions at HRSA.

Shaun Williams – Senior Steward

We also welcome Shaun Williams to the role of Senior Steward. Shaun joins HRSA from Greyhound Racing SA, where he served as a steward with responsibilities that included the chairing of race meetings. He brings a well-rounded skill set, combining his stewarding experience with a background in compliance roles within the insurance industry. His understanding of regulatory processes and participant engagement will strengthen HRSA’s stewarding team.

Going forward, race meeting chairing duties will be shared between Derek Kordick, Shaun Williams, and Simon Ewen, ensuring consistent and experienced oversight at all meetings. HRSA looks forward to conducting race meetings with the highest levels of integrity, working collaboratively with industry participants, and promoting our sport confidently to a national audience.
