SA TROTS - Ima Workinclassman chance for back to back wins tonight

SCORING in tradesman-like fashion last week, handy pacer Ima Workinclassman has a prime opportunity to ‘pick up some overtime’ at Globe Derby tonight.

Second-up from a spell, Ima Workinclassman registered a narrow victory after occupying the seat in the breeze over 1800 metres.

Thrilled with the gelding’s performance, trainer Naomi Shelbourn is quietly confident Ima Workinclassman can repeat the dose this evening.

“He’s come back quite well from his spell,” Shelbourn said. “He is still a bit fat as he is the type of horse which is lazy at home.

“The run last week served him well and he’s come on a lot, so he will be better again.

“He is much better when he has another horse to go with as he gets competitive instead of being lazy.”

To be driven by David Smith, Ima Workinclassman has drawn to search for the lead from the pole.

As such, early markets have the son of Grinfromeartoear as the $2.50 favourite.

“He couldn’t really be used out of the gate when he was younger, but as he’s getting older he is developing more gate speed,” Shelbourn said.

“Hopefully he can take advantage of the draw, but I just leave it up to the driver.

“The race panned out for him last Monday and I was just lucky…that’s what it’s about these days, unless you have a stand out horse, it is the way the race is run and the luck you get.

“Hopefully tonight can go just as well for us.”
