SA TROTS Im Hector searching for a win at Globe Derby tomorrow night

TOMORROW night’s Globe Derby meeting presents Im Hector with a prime opportunity to snap his recent bridesmaid status.

Racing in his customary consistent form, with seven placings from 12 starts this season, Im Hector has been runner-up during his last four outings.

Though pleased with the son of Quaker Jet, trainer Claire Goble wants to see Im Hector break his drought from the winners’ circle.

The trotter has been absent from the number one stall since last October.

“He is due to break through and hopefully this will be his turn,” Goble said. “He will be doing his best as he always does.

“He’s got really good manners which always help, especially with trotters, but for some reason he just keeps finding one better on the day lately.”

To be driven by Greg Rogers, Im Hector will begin from two along the front line in the 2230-metre handicap.

The six-year-old’s stablemate, Millys Magic, is the sole 20-metre backmarker in the field of five.

“Milly couldn’t get into the race last start with the way it was run,” Goble said. “She’s run good sectionals off 20 metres, but it didn’t suit something coming from behind.

“It’s only a small field tomorrow night, but that can be tricky as no matter where they settle they should all be close enough to get their chance, so any of them could win.”
