SA TROTS - Steinman looking to continue consistent record

A FAVOURABLE draw has Steinman in a strong position to begin his newly-appointed reign on a successful note.
During last week’s South Australian awards night Steinman was crowned ‘King of Globe Derby’ for having registered the most victories at the track last season.
An ultra-consistent performer, the Darren Billinger-trained gelding won nine races at headquarters, having also been among the placings 15 times.
As for his pending assignment, Steinman will return to Globe Derby where he has drawn the pole over 1800 metres.
With the son of Rock N Roll Heaven facing a similar class field to which he beat on Monday, Billinger is confident Steinman can notch his third win of the year.
“He’s in his usual solid form and is a good chance to go back-to-back on Saturday night,” Billinger said.
“He was third against pretty much the same field last Saturday, but this time he has the draw on the others.
“It’s an extremely even field so the draw makes a big difference.
“If you change the draw a dozen times you’re likely to get a dozen different results.”
With no major plans in mind for the seven-year-old Billinger will continue to race Steinman “in whatever is available while he’s still going well.”
