SA TROTS - Youngsters heading into Southern Cross

Feature winners at Globe Derby last Monday will follow similar paths during the next month.

Although they will contest different divisions, the three are being primed for the Southern Cross, which begins with heats at the same venue on November 26.

Should all go to plan the trio will then contest the Finals the following week.

Successful in the Ladyship Stake, Sunshineanrainbows will head into the qualifier with a perfect record from two starts.

Pleased with the filly’s progress, trainer Paul Cavallaro is positive Sunshineanrainbows will be a force in the futurity.

“She is a very nice filly which I still haven’t fully wound up,” Cavallaro said. “She just does everything so easily and takes it all in her stride.

“I have to admit, I knew she had ability but I didn’t expect her to do it like she did in her first start and now she has come out and gone better in her second start.

“Given the improvement she has shown between starts, I’ve got no doubt she will be better again before the heats.”

Taking his record to four wins and a third from five outings, Jamaican Rock raced greenly again, but still proved too good in the Lordship Stake.

Trained and driven by Ryan Hryhorec, the son of A Rocknroll Dance rated 1:58.8 over 1800 metres, a tenth of a second slower than Sunshineanrainbows.

“He is racing on raw ability, but showed yet again he’s got plenty of talent,” Hryhorec said. “He is becoming more tractable and hopefully will be better again for the Southern Cross.”

Unplaced in last season’s Final, Jawsoflincoln issued a statement ahead of the upcoming series with his Sires’ Produce victory.

Having his first start back in South Australia following a moderate New South Wales campaign, Jawsoflincoln led throughout for an emphatic 48-metre win from Direct Command.

Sorrento was 12-and-a-half metres away third in 1:55.5.

Winner of the SA Derby last April, the son of Art Major stretched his tally to 11 wins and five placings from 26 starts.
