SA TROTS -Cavallaros strong team at Globe Derby tonight
IN-FORM pacer Artillery doesn’t have to look far to find his main danger ahead of tonight’s Globe Derby meeting.
Boasting three wins and a third from his last four starts, Artillery is a short-priced favourite in the open class event despite drawing the widest of the seven runners.
Faring better in barrier four is Artillery’s older brother and stablemate – Culture King – which is also racing close to his peak.
A last-start winner, Culture King had been among the placegetters during four of his previous five outings.
The pair are by premier sire Art Major from broodmare gem, Terrace.
“I couldn’t be happier with both of them,” trainer Paul Cavallaro said. “Artillery’s last run was phenomenal and he’s just in super shape.
“He ran his last half in 56 and dragged a flat tyre for the last 350 metres.
“Culture King is racing as well as he can and will be right in it again.”
With Cavallaro to take the reins behind Artillery, Culture King will be driven by Kevin Weidenbach.
“Ryan Hryhorec would normally drive Artillery, and I’d stick with Culture King, but he has one of his own horses (Lord Zarias) in the race,” Cavallaro said. “Ironically, Ryan’s goes alright and is the biggest threat.
“So I’m switching to Artillery for tonight.”
