SA TROTS Battle Of The Best Saturday 28th Globe Derby Park

BRAGGING rights will be the priority at Globe Derby on Saturday night as a host of South Australia’s leading drivers clash in a unique series.

Promoted as the ‘Battle of the Best’, the tournament doubles as a battle of the sexes, with five gentlemen taking on five women across five heats.

Collectively the ‘Terrific Ten’ have won more than 9000 races, including 28 Group events for prizemoney in excess of $33.4million.

The line up consists of Australian Driving Championship winner Wayne Hill, along with Dean Girardi, Dani Hill, Ryan Hryhorec, Tiana McMahon, Samantha Pascoe, Gaita Pullicino, Lisa Ryan, David and Michael Smith.

With his opening drive drawn the pole in the first heat, Wayne is confident of kick-starting the challenge on a positive note.

Wayne will partner in-form mare Atreacherous, which boasts seven wins and two placings from her last 12 outings.

“She is going really well and is a good chance again,” Wayne said. “I drove her to win four starts back when she was first-up from a break and she has been racing well since.

“Ryan drove her to finish second last week when she seemed unlucky and hopefully her fortunes can be turned around on Saturday night.”

Although pleased with his engagements, Wayne believes Michael has fared best with his drives.

“On paper Michael is the one to beat,” Wayne said. “He’s driving Just Chai, Sheza Manipulator and Our Major Jack, which have all been in great form.

“These events are always a bit of fun, but taken seriously at the same time, so it will make for a good night’s racing.”
