SA TROTS -2022 ADC Drivers Profile - Grace Panella (NSW)
DON’T let the fact Grace Panella is the least experienced competitor in the tournament lead you to assume she can’t win…after all, you know what they say about assumptions!
Set to represent New South Wales in the upcoming Australian Drivers’ Championship, Panella may lack the mileage of her rivals, but certainly doesn’t fall short on talent.
At just 19 – and young enough to be the daughter of several of the ADC drivers – Panella is clearly the baby of the field.
Making her racing debut during the 2019/20 season, Panella broke her maiden behind Scenic Sky at Club Menangle on June 22, 2020
Since then Panella has registered another 86 wins, including 52 this season, from just 737 drives for a strike rate of 12 per cent, which compares favourably against her ADC opponents.
Add her youthful exuberance to the stats and an “excited” Panella is sure to be a force at Globe Derby on September 17.
“I was thrilled to be asked to drive in the series and it is such an honour to represent New South Wales,” Panella said.
“To be driving against some of the biggest names in the sport will be amazing and I’m just so excited and looking forward to being there.”
Panella will be joined in the NSW silks by Cameron Hart as they clash with a pair of drivers from each state, including defending champion – West Australian superstar Gary Hall junior.
The line-up also includes former champions, Queensland’s Pete McMullen and local hero, Wayne Hill.
Each competitor is scheduled contest eight races, the winner to be decided on points accumulated throughout the night.
Along with bragging rights as Australian champion, the winner will be given strong consideration when determining who will represent Australia in next year’s World Driving Championship in Italy.
