SA TROTS -2022 ADC Drivers Profile - Kate Gath (VIC)

SHE’LL be representing Victoria later this month, but Kate Gath admits her loyalties are divided.
Along with James Herbertson, Gath will don the ‘Big V’ silks during the Australian Drivers’ Championship on September 17.
The issue is, the series is being conducted at Globe Derby – the main track in Gath’s state-of-origin, South Australia!
As such, the ADC appearance doubles as a homecoming for the premiership winning reinswoman.
Gath is no stranger to returning to her grassroots to enjoy success as a ‘raider’, having won the SA Pacing and Trotting Cups, three SA Derbys, a pair of Southern Cross Finals and The Allwood.
“I’ll be there competing in the series as a Victorian and will do my best to bring the title back with me,” Gath said.
“At heart though, I will always be an Adelaide girl so there is a touch of sentiment there as well.
“Heading home to be a part of what will be such a fantastic night makes for a wonderful time and I’m looking forward to being there.”
Gath and her teammate will clash with a pair of drivers from each state, including defending champion – West Australian superstar Gary Hall junior.
The line-up also includes former champions, Queensland’s Pete McMullen and local hero, Wayne Hill.
Each competitor is scheduled contest eight races, with the winner to be decided on points accumulated throughout the night.
Along with bragging rights as Australian champion, the winner will be given strong consideration when determining who will represent Australia in next year’s World Driving Championship in Italy.
