Industry Notice regarding scheduled race meeting Sunday 16th October

Harness Racing South Australia (HRSA) wishes to advise all participants that the Sunday, October 16 meeting scheduled at Gawler Racing Club will not proceed.

In place of this, Globe Derby will host an additional meeting across that weekend, with a twilight programme on Sunday October 16, in addition to the evening programme scheduled for Saturday October 15.

The repositioning of this race meeting is due to an inability within the Membership of Gawler Harness Racing Club to allow this meeting to go ahead under the proposed conditions.

As the meeting was initially scheduled to be part of the tri-code ‘Gawler Carnival of Cups,’ it has had an impact across the three codes. HRSA will work with the other codes and Carnival of Cups operators to ensure the future success of this initiative.

All participants are advised that the programming for October 16 will replicate the original meeting, including the Platinum Cup of which heats are taking place this weekend, to limit the disruption to nominations. Both October 15 & 16 meetings will have Sky 1 coverage.

HRSA is pleased to see 19 races with almost 150 individual runners across the next two meetings at Globe Derby. On the back of a successful – and newly added – Port Pirie standalone meeting last Saturday night, this is a solid start to the upcoming feature racing period in South Australia.
