Dee Jays Miss looking for another win at Globe
RACING in career best form, classy mare Dee Jays Miss will aim for her second feature win this campaign when she returns to Globe Derby this weekend.
Prepared by well-known identity Max Beasley, Dee Jays Miss has won five of her last nine starts, including the Emerging Stars Final on June 27.
The daughter of Lather Up also has three placings to her credit, the latest being a second in a Four and Five-Year-Old Classic heat a fortnight ago.
That effort earned Dee Jays Miss a berth in tomorrow night’s Kevin and Kay Seymour-sponsored Final.
“It is nice to be in these races, let alone win one,” Beasley said. “Being in another on Saturday night is terrific.
“You take a sense of pride being in Finals knowing the process involved in getting there.”
To be driven by regular reinswoman Angela Chapman, Dee Jays Miss is rated among the main chances despite drawing awkwardly in barrier five.
The four-year-old moves into four once the emergency is taken out of the equation.
“She is on song and I’m very happy with her, but the draw makes it hard,” Beasley said. “When in three or four the only option is to go forward and she will probably be in the ‘death seat’ again.
“Even though she’s probably going to have to do it the tough way again, I’m reasonably confident with her.”
Citing Seaside Lady as the one to beat, Beasley believes the event is a “wide open affair”.
Prepared by premier horseman Ryan Hryhorec, Seaside Lady has drawn to lead from the pole.
“Seaside Lady was impressive winning last week and has drawn to do it again,” Beasley said. “Overall, it’s a wide open affair…one of those races you could run 10 times and get seven different results.”
