2026 FEATURE RACE DATES

HRSA has released the feature race dates for July to December 2026.

The most notable change in 2026 is the dates of the Southern Cross Series. Heats of this series for 2YO’s & 3YO’s will be scheduled for Saturday November 7, with the Finals on Saturday November 14.

These dates have been chosen for multiple reasons, including avoiding other feature series (Vicbred in September, SA Derby and Golden Nursery in October, Breeders Crown in December), Sky availability and also feedback from participants that the 2025 series held in mid-December was too late in the season.

As a result, any 2yo or 3yo which is eligible for the 2026 Southern Cross Series via the SA Owned Clause (100% SA owned but born outside SA) will be required to be SA trained from September 8. These horses can compete interstate during this period, however must remain under the care of an SA trainer at all times to remain eligible.

Other key dates include:

·      Saturday October 3 – 2026 Australian Drivers Championship

·      Saturday October 24 – South Australian Pacing and Trotters Cups Night (including 3yo Pacing Derby and 2yo Golden Nursery Finals)

·      Saturday November 28 – South Australian 3yo Pacing Oaks and Trotters Derby
