10 years on for SA in the ADC 2026?
WHAT better way to celebrate the 10th anniversary of winning the Australian Drivers’ Championship than to win another!
That’s the philosophy star South Australian reinsman Wayne Hill is taking into Saturday night’s series at Globe Derby.
Hill beat an assembly of the nation’s best drivers in front of his home crowd in 2016 to secure the coveted title.
“It would be ideal if it can work out that way,” Hill said. “I didn’t realise it’d been that long since I won.
“Well, the 10-year anniversary sounds like a good reason for things to go my way.”
Luckless during his five subsequent appearances – with a fourth in 2022 his best result – Hill has a solid chance of reclaiming the throne after receiving a “pretty good book” of drives.
Hill will begin his quest by driving Twin Connection from barrier three in the opening heat, with the gelding unbeaten from two starts since being transferred to David Harding.
Hill’s engagements include $3 favourite Pesci along with Daisy Bouchea and Chase The Stars, which are the second elects in betting markets for their heats.
“Everything I am driving is going well, so I have a pretty good book,” Hill said. “That said, I’ve got a few drawn awkwardly.
“The draws aren’t great, but the quality of drives is there.”
Along with the clash against talented opposition from every state, Hill stated there is a battle within the battle – his sister Dani!
“It is always an honour to represent your state while driving against some of the best from around Australia,” Hill said. “Dani is one of those and I’d be rapt if she was to win, but if one of us can’t win, I at least want to beat her.
“We’re both pretty competitive nature and like getting the bragging rights.
“I’ve looked at Dani’s drives and she has a good book too, so things could go her way.”
